KELLY WEARSTLER, founder and director of Kelly Wearstler design studio, is an American designer who works in a versatile residential, hospitality, and retail environments. She is also the designer of extensive collections of lifestyle product designs andshe collaborates with many renowned brands. Wearstler has been internationally recognized with distinguished design awards by numerous publications. A layered, stimulating sensory experience is at the heart of Wearstler’s design approach. Through an exploration of material, color, shape and an intuitive juxtaposition of contemporary and vintage, architectural and organic, graphic and instinctive, she curates each space. Wearstler believes that honoring history, location and architecture is necessary to push the boundaries and challenge the rules. Wearstler was one of the key forces behind the rise of the design hotel in the early 2000s. She currently designs mostly residential with hotel atmospheres where a distinctive vision of authentic cultural immersion and site-specific design is central. Wearstler received her academic training in interior, architectural and graphic design and is the author of five design books.
