This beautiful basket set of 4 baskets from Scapa Home is both decorative and functional. They are great for the bedroom or bathroom to use for towels, make-up or as a waste basket.

These unique baskets are made of sisal by African craftsmen. Sisal is a tropical fiber made from the agave plant. The fiber from the leaves of this plant is extracted from which rope is made. Sisal rope is dyed in a neutral sand color using natural dye after which it is woven into a basket.

Basket weaving is a tradition in the Kamba & Taita Culture. The sisal basket weavers come from remote areas of the east and coastal provinces of Kenya.

The baskets are made by 'Basket Weaver Women's Groups' in rural villages. Most groups meet every two weeks to weave baskets together. They continue it when they are at home, on the bus or while walking to neighbors.
